Cooking

In past months after return from China, I had been doing some cooking by myself on and off as to brush up my cooking skill. So far, the dishes that I had cooked ........ Fried Rice, Fried Cabbage, Fried Turnip (沙葛), Assam Fish (Using the instant assam paste), Taiwanese Mined Meat Rice (肉燥饭).......

My latest try out is the 莲藕排骨汤....... My bro commented that the taste is better than mom's....

I'm going to try out some other dishes since I had several cook books/magazines......

And I believe someone missed my 肉骨茶 and bo-bo-cha-cha.

Instant Fried Kway Teow

Woow .. found this is in one of the stores in Jurong Point... Instant Fried Kway Teow!!!

Those who went overseas for long period of time and miss local food... bring this along.

P.S. Not sure of the taste as I didn't try it.

JERRY?

OMG, this really funny translation was found in one of the long distance buses rest point in Malaysia........

龙眼仙草= GRASS JERRY WITH LONGAN
遮里 = JERRY
玫瑰露 = ROSE SIRAD

In fact 玫瑰露 is one type of Chinese wine. I believed they referring to Bandung, the Chinese name should be 玫瑰糖浆.

Makan Makan in Taman Sri Tebrau (I)

Like most people, once we have the time, we would like to cross over the causeway and head to Johor Bahru for shopping and eating.

Likewise, I have been to JB quite often. Hereby, would to introduce a makan place whereby I frequent patronized...... Taman Sri Tebrau Hawkers Centre (大马花园). The main food found here is same as others..... BBQ fish, Fried Kway Teow, Fried Oyster, Wan Tan Mee, Prawn Mee, Otak-Otak, Nyonya Kuahs.. etc..etc..

This time, we ordered the Yong Tau Foo, Penang Fried Kway Teaw, BBQ Stingray.

In this hawkers centre, I personally strongly recommend the fresh fruit juices. We had the Passion Fruit Juice. Each glass is RM 4.50 (abt S$1.90) and huge. The other fruit juice that I liked is the Buah Long Long with salted plum (You can find this juice in Bugis Village).
One more thing, the nyonya kuah stall behind the yong-tau-foo stall has the best Kuah Kosui I ever eaten.
TBC..........

Supper at Lau Pa Sat

It had been ages since mt last visit to Lau Pa Sat. Last Friday, after watching a drama show, friends and I decided to proceed to Lau Pa Sat for a light supper. Once we stepped into the area, we are 'attacked' by some of the hawker helpers.... we like the honey and they are the bees....."You want satay?"..... "Pengang fish?"..... OMG

Finally, we got a seat in the open air area under the star (Noted: in real fact, we are on a road. The road is closed for hawkers during the evening time). We ordered satay, poh-piah and porridge.

There quite a number of satay stalls, we ordered from one of them. The satay is good (way back I did ever encountered a so-so satay there)......Well, we will try others satay stalls in the near future as to do a comparison and to vote my favourite one.

The porridge is from a new stall in the Lau Pa Sat..... BTW, since my last visit (months back) there are some changes in the internal foods stalls and it's layout. The porridge and poh-piah is good.

Fish Spa

Tried something that is not so new..... Fish Spa.

Found this shop in People Park Centre and is promoting the service at a very special rate after it's renovation. So I decided to give it a try.

First, you have to rinse your feet. Then, then sit on the bench and immersed your feet into the pool.

Once my feet were inside the water, the fishes just gathered around my feet and start 'biting' on my feet (The true fact is the fishes are eating away your dead skin). It feel very ticklish, I almost shout out, but just only giggling for a while. I also put my hands for a fish spa treatment.

There are two pools in this shop, I started with the pool that contained fishes slightly bigger in size. It give me a ticklish feeling. Then at last few minutes before my session end, I switched to the pool with smaller size fishes. Oooohhh, the feeling is totally stunning, once the small fishes started 'biting' at your feet, it gives an electrifying feeling. When I stated to enjoy, shits, my session ends. My conclusion, must go for the one with small fishes during the next visit.

MRT

The MRT station near my home has finally commenced last month. This make my travelling easier and less cost. It takes me about 7 minutes to walk to the station.

Recalling the first commencement of MRT in Sg, it was many, many year backs (>20 years). During the construction of MRT, it did brought lots of inconvenience to the people staying in that areas. Like me, while I was staying in Bukit Ho Swee area and as the construction of Tiong Bahru Station is going on, I had to detour via different route at different period of time as to get to the bus stop in Tiong Bahru Road. Hahaha.... after the Tiong Bahru Station commenced, there comes the construction of Tiong Bahru Plaza. However, the completion of MRT had made the travelling more easier and convenience. Waiting for the commencement of Circular Lines.

Sakura ???

This few days, whenever I look out from the window and I saw the trees, at the opposite side of my block, is blossomed with flowers. Somehow, it gave me a feeling that they are Sakura. Yes, Sakura blooming season happens to be at this period of time.

I also can recall that this type of tree is also planted along the Tuas Avenue 1, 2, 4. While I was working in Tuas Area and travelled to work in the morning at this period of time, I could see these trees blossomed with flowers and the fallen flowers covered the road. Really given me a feeling of SPRING. I said to myself why must travel to Japan to see Sakura, we had Sakura-like plant (I know it could be totally different) in the island.
Can anyone tell me what is the species or name of this tree?
